Shapes of Things

"Shapes, of things before my eyes...."

Working with sculptural abstracts and small pendants of various shapes brings back memories of being a young student in art class.  All these shapes before my eyes.  Pencil and paper drawings of shapes that enjoy a story of their own.  I remember listening to David Bowie music being played, a redo of an old Yardbird song called "Shapes of Things" ... The opening line of "Shapes, of things before my eyes....", and then the chorus listed below.

I very much liked David Bowie's music.  Constantly reinventing himself, progressing.. The lyrics of the song described the progression and the simple process of striving to constantly move forward. Hoping to continue to grow...

Come tomorrow, will I be older?
Come tomorrow, maybe a soldier
Come tomorrow, may I be bolder than today

As an artist I hope that every day I continue learning in my craft and hopefully never find myself sitting still on small shards of a successful piece that can trap one into repetition.

Reinvent.  Progress.  Grow...  Mature...Fail without Fear.... Succeed because of the Failures..

"Come tomorrow, may I be bolder than today"

I purchased a large teapot sculpture from you when you did them one year for different people in your life. Mine meant a lot to me because it represented me being injured then blossoming into this new person because of a head injury. Well, in about 4 months I’ll be finished and have achieved my goal. So after five years of fighting I I’m almost done! I look at that sculpture everyday and think about the thoughtfulness behind the artist that made it and I hope you know just how much it means to me.
